Joaquim Tinoco concluded his PhD at University of Minho under the subject “Application of Data Mining Techniques to Jet Grouting Columns Design”. He is researcher at ISISE, with interests in the fields of Transportation Geotechnics: Soft Soils, Soil Improvement, Slopes Stability, Maritime Slopes, Scour prediction and behavior; Machine Learning; Artificial Intelligence (AI), Decision Support Systems, Neural Networks, Evolutionary Algorithms, Digital Image Processing, and Engineering Applications of the above. Author of more than 45 indexed publications in international peer reviewed journals and international conferences with a total of 436 Google Scholar citations (h-index of 13) and 406 Scopus citations (h-index of 10). He has been member of the organizing committees of several national and international conferences (e.g., 12 CNG (2010), 3rd ICTG (2016), 3rd ICITG (2019), 3rd ICISIC (2022)). He integrates the research team of some competitive funding national and international projects (e.g., In2Track3, FERROVIA 4.0) and has been a regular reviewer of ISI JCR journals (e.g., Neural Processing Letters, Soils and Foundations, Neural Computing & Applications and Engineering Geology). Since 2020, He is the Secretary-General of the CPGT (“Comissão Portuguesa de Geotecnia nos Transportes”).
